TO APPEAR AT JAPANESE CLASSIC CAR SHOW
IMMEDIATE RELEASE, LONG BEACH, CA- -Actress Diane Krey-Wesley, who played the role of Mary in the immortal "Ken & Mary" Nissan Skyline TV ads in Japan, will make her first-ever Southern California car-show appearance at the annual Japanese Classic Car Show, held in Long Beach, CA on September 15, 2012. With the rise in popularity of Japanese cars in US collector-car and performance-car circles, the legend of Ken, Mary and the kenmeri Skyline have been revived. Forty years ago and half a world away, Diane Krey starred in the award-winning Japanese TV ads for the Nissan Skyline. Known as the "Ken & Mary" (or kenmeri) generation Skyline, she was the shining face of youth and aspiration, and won the hearts of the Japanese TV viewing public. She also modeled for Nissan's dealer publications of the era. Ken and Mary, as characters, were a cultural sensation, and were among the most recognizable faces in Japan. When she returned to the States in 1975, Diane retired from acting and modeling. But with a 2010 DVD release of all vintage Skyline TV ads, and subsequent appearance on YouTube, Ken and Mary were more than just a legend and a memory--they were real, available for all to see, and to fall in love with all over again. "I'm amazed that people remember me," Diane told us recently. "I'm honored to have the opportunity to meet Southern California's old-school Japanese car community at JCCS in September--and to see all of those great old cars!"
